Education

Tate Snyder Kimsey has a comprehensive understanding of the issues related to educational facility design in the Intermountain West as well as the challenges and opportunities of working with each the region’s school districts outside of the major metropolitan districts. We are deeply aware of the value placed on new school construction in these communities and the impact that these facilities have on the development of our children as well as the potential to contribute to the community at large. Our principals and staff have worked successfully with public and private colleges and universities, community colleges, and school districts to complete more than 500 higher education and K-20 projects.

Our specific objectives for this unique project-type is to first develop learning environments that embody best design practices for child development, teacher and school effectiveness, are easily maintained, and are responsive to the fiscal resources of the District and Community. Second, as schools are reflective of the community in which they are located, to conduct the design process in a manner that is open, democratic, and gives voice to the members of the District, the teachers, students, parents and community, and results in a facility that each of these voices has a strong sense of ownership. Third, understanding that schools are significant fixtures in the community and that each community is unique, we have found that building a sense of community requires the participation of the local professional community to craft educational facilities that embody their unique spirit and represent their vision for the future.

We understand the challenges that school districts face in balancing the needs of their students, their teachers and their communities. We approach projects with the knowledge acquired through the design of similar facilities, but we are open to developing new ideas that best meet the specific requirements of each client.
