USC Boone Housing

This University of Southern California, satellite campus on Catalina Island provides conferencing and housing facilities for marine researchers and students.
To address the challenges of building on an island, the six units were built on a mainland pier, eliminating the need to house and feed most of the workers. Meanwhile, a smaller crew on the island was grading and building retaining walls and foundations. The completed units which were already plastered, roofed and carpeted, were brought to the island by barge, and slid up the hill to their foundations. The University is very pleased with their facility which is working perfectly for bringing in international guests for lectures, events and research on southern California marine life.
