Lower Colorado Reclamation Office

BOULDER CITY, NEVADA

Tate Snyder Kimsey, working with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, was awarded the Boulder Canyon Operations Office after a Federal Design-Build competition earlier this spring. The 2-story office building was designed to blend into the historic district of downtown Boulder City where it’s located, and houses the Department of Reclamation, a sub-sect of the US Department of the Interior.

The 50,000 square foot building contains both private and open office space, conference and meeting rooms, library and storage areas, as well as copy, break room and other support spaces. This project is designated to meet a minimum LEED Silver level certification; however, the design-build team is currently designing to meet LEED Platinum requirements.

The Bureau of Reclamation Boulder Canyon Operations Office building will achieve LEED-NC Platinum certification on completion. Condensate recovery from cooling tower is used to flush toilets and recovered rainwater is used for irrigation. 90% of domestic hot water is heated from solar heaters. 40% of the building energy is generated through on-site photo voltaic panels. Over 80% energy efficiency is achieved through daylight strategies and efficient systems and equipment.
