Having practiced in the western United States for the last 50 years, Tate Snyder Kimsey plays an influential role in shaping the built environment in one of the world’s most visited cities—Las Vegas. As the figural center of the Intermountain West, Las Vegas was the fastest growing city in the United States during the last 20 years. Challenges posed by such development drastically impact housing, infrastructure, natural resource management, energy availability and production, urban sprawl and land use policies, educational resources and other such quality of life issues.

Our design responses to these challenges integrate the most effective and appropriate sustainable technologies for each individual project. Our goal is to increase energy efficiency beyond standard guidelines through the use of energy modeling simulations, limit on-site potable water usage, increase occupant comfort and productivity, construct using durable and sustainable materials and provide our clients with post occupancy evaluations. Many of our projects use leading technologies, which have been tested and proven to provide the best solution for such challenges.

Similarly, transit and port facilities have experienced unprecedented growth and therefore demand extensive consideration and responsiveness in this ever-changing environment. During the past decade, the design of passenger terminals has undergone a renaissance of civic awareness and importance. This trend is attributed to the changing climate of public architecture design. Recent terminal projects recall the standard of public spaces established in major pre-war railway terminals such as New York City’s Grand Central and Penn Stations. These structures transcend pure function to become integral elements to the city’s identity. Comparably, commercial ports demand uncompromised functionality, while maintaining a strong sense of security and identity.
